Once Upon A Time...

It all started when I was asked to photograph the Boutique Day of a dress giving organization in Houston, TX. I was there mainly to photograph the dresses, the accessories, the girls delight and joy in finding that perfect dress, all the details of the day. I came away with so much more! Seeing the joy on these girls faces and the dreamy looks they had in their eyes when trying on dresses just moved me. My heart was full of emotion after hearing their moms express their gratitude that an organization such as this exist, for a prom dress was just too much of an overwhelming expense for them. I was amazingly touched! After moving from Houston and coming back home to the RGV, my heart was filled with the passion of starting an organization just like this. I knew we had a need here as well. As a woman and a mother, I have a desire to help others and give back to the community. After much thought and mentoring with founders from other dress giving organizations, Cinderella's Closet of the Rio Grande Valley was born as an outreach program of Our Savior Lutheran Church in McAllen, TX in the spring of 2010. I am super excited about Cinderella's Closet and we are looking to give dresses and dreams to girls in the Rio Grande Valley area who are in need of this. Every girl deserves the chance to attend her prom, regardless of any circumstances that she or her family are facing. But more than the dress, we want to instill in these girls... grace, love, and kindness and hope that when they leave Cinderella's Closet, they will know that they are loved and cherished. We hope to touch lives...one dress at a time.
